ISLAMABAD/KARACHI (Economy India): Pakistan has extended the closure of its airspace for Indian aircraft until August 23, according to a fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority.
The restriction applies to all Indian-registered aircraft, as well as aircraft operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators. Military aircraft are also included in the ban.
The airspace restrictions were first introduced after the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April 2025, when both India and Pakistan imposed reciprocal restrictions on each other’s airlines.
The continued closure is expected to force Indian airlines to use longer international routes, increasing flight time and operational costs on several overseas services. The extension also reflects that aviation ties between the two neighboring countries remain strained.
The Pakistan Airports Authority stated that its airspace will remain unavailable for Indian aircraft until August 23, unless a new notification is issued before then.
