Jammu ( Economy India ):The largest batch of pilgrims so far this year, comprising 8,815 devotees, departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Tuesday for the annual Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir under tight security arrangements.
According to officials, the sixth batch included 5,831 men, 2,193 women, 31 children, 598 sadhus, 131 sadhvis, and 31 foreign nationals. The convoy was escorted by security forces to ensure a safe journey to the holy cave shrine.
The annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath Cave Shrine has witnessed a strong turnout this year. During the first four days of the Yatra, more than 93,000 pilgrims offered prayers at the shrine, with the number expected to cross the one lakh mark later in the day.
Authorities have made extensive arrangements, including enhanced security, medical facilities, traffic management, and emergency services, to ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
The Amarnath Yatra remains one of India’s most significant religious pilgrimages, attracting thousands of devotees from across the country and abroad every year.
