Kolkata Metro Services Briefly Disrupted After Suicide Attempt

Kolkata ( Economy India ) : Metro rail services on Kolkata’s Blue Line were briefly disrupted on Saturday morning after a person allegedly jumped onto the tracks at Kalighat Metro Station in an apparent suicide attempt, according to metro officials.

The incident temporarily affected train operations, causing delays for commuters during the morning hours.

Services Restored After Brief Disruption

A senior Metro Railway official said emergency response teams acted swiftly after the individual entered the tracks. Metro staff immediately initiated safety protocols, and train movement on the affected section was temporarily suspended.

Following the rescue operation and necessary safety checks, normal services on the Blue Line were gradually restored.

Commuters Faced Delays

The disruption led to temporary inconvenience for passengers travelling during the morning peak period. Authorities worked to minimize delays and restore regular operations as quickly as possible.

Metro officials advised commuters to follow official updates regarding train services whenever operational disruptions occur.

Investigation Underway

Officials said the incident is being investigated, while the identity and medical condition of the individual have not yet been officially disclosed.

Metro Railway reiterated its appeal to passengers to prioritize safety and avoid entering restricted track areas under any circumstances.

Safety Remains a Priority

Kolkata Metro continues to maintain strict safety measures across stations and regularly conducts awareness campaigns to ensure passenger security. Railway authorities emphasized that quick coordination between station staff and emergency teams helped restore services efficiently.
