MUMBAI, (Economy india):Mahindra Group on Friday announced the expansion of its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model across its entire electric SUV portfolio, aiming to make its premium electric vehicles more accessible to customers.
The BaaS model was initially introduced with the launch of the performance-focused born-electric SUV SPORTEQ. Under the model, customers can finance the electric vehicle and its battery separately through a dual-financing structure.
Mahindra said the expanded BaaS offering will now cover all variants of the XEV 9S and XEV 9e, along with all variants of the BE 6 SPORTEQ.
The company said separating the financing of the vehicle and battery gives customers greater flexibility in managing the overall cost of owning an electric SUV. The model is also aimed at addressing one of the key concerns in the EV market—the upfront cost of battery-powered vehicles.
With the expansion, Mahindra is positioning BaaS as a broader ownership and financing option across its electric SUV range. The move comes as demand for electric vehicles continues to grow and automakers explore new financing models to encourage wider EV adoption.
The company expects the expanded offering to provide customers with more flexibility while strengthening its presence in India’s rapidly developing electric SUV segment.
