Dhanteras Drives Auto Sales: Maruti, Tata and Hyundai See Strong Festive Demand
NEW DELHI, (Economy India): India’s automobile sector witnessed strong festive demand on Dhanteras, with leading automakers and dealerships reporting healthy vehicle deliveries across two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Following robust sales during Navratri, companies are expecting the momentum to continue through Diwali.
Major automakers, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India, have reported encouraging demand, with thousands of customers taking delivery of new vehicles during the auspicious festive period.

Maruti Suzuki Expects 30,000 Dhanteras Deliveries
Market leader Maruti Suzuki India expects to deliver approximately 30,000 vehicles on Dhanteras.
The company had recorded around 50,000 deliveries during the previous year’s Dhanteras period, which was spread across two days. The automaker has cautioned that the figures are not directly comparable because of the difference in the festive calendar.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, said the company was witnessing strong booking momentum.
Maruti Suzuki’s pending bookings stood at approximately 2.52 lakh vehicles, reflecting sustained customer interest and a substantial order pipeline.
The company has also recorded more than four lakh retail sales between Ganesh Chaturthi and November 6, compared with 3.46 lakh units during the corresponding period last year.

Tata Motors Targets 12,000 Deliveries
Tata Motors expects to deliver approximately 12,000 vehicles during the Dhanteras period, supported by healthy festive demand.
The company has been strengthening production and logistics to improve vehicle availability and meet customer requirements during the peak buying season.
Demand for passenger vehicles has remained encouraging, with customers showing interest across the company’s vehicle portfolio.
Hyundai Expects 14% Growth in Festive Deliveries
Hyundai Motor India is expecting nearly 14 per cent growth in its Dhanteras and Diwali deliveries.
The automaker expects to deliver around 16,000 vehicles during the two-day festive period.
Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said customers were responding positively to the festive buying season.
The company’s outlook reflects continued demand for passenger vehicles as consumers take advantage of the auspicious occasion to purchase new cars.
Demand Remains Strong Across Vehicle Segments
The festive demand is not limited to passenger cars. Dealers have reported healthy customer interest across two-wheelers and commercial vehicles as well.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has described overall market sentiment as positive, with demand holding up across major vehicle categories.
However, dealers have indicated that supply constraints could affect deliveries in certain electric-vehicle segments.
The used-car market has also witnessed strong festive interest, with sellers reporting that demand has outpaced available supply in some categories.
Festive Calendar Supports Vehicle Purchases
Dhanteras is traditionally one of the most important periods for automobile purchases in India, as many consumers consider the occasion auspicious for buying vehicles.
This year’s festive calendar has placed Dhanteras on November 6, followed by Diwali on November 8, creating another important opportunity for automakers and dealerships to convert bookings into deliveries.
The strong response follows encouraging sales activity during Navratri and Dussehra, when automobile companies reported improved customer interest and showroom activity.
Automakers Hope to Sustain Momentum
The latest delivery estimates indicate that automobile manufacturers are looking to capitalise on festive demand across vehicle categories.
Maruti Suzuki’s large booking pipeline, Tata Motors’ delivery expectations and Hyundai’s projected growth point to continued optimism among major manufacturers.
The coming days will be important in determining whether the strong Dhanteras response translates into sustained sales momentum through Diwali and the remainder of the festive season.
For the automobile industry, the festive period remains a crucial opportunity to strengthen retail sales, improve inventory movement and attract new customers.
