NEW DELHI (Economy India): Kartavya Bhavan-3, one of the newly developed government office complexes under the Central Vista redevelopment project, has emerged as a model of sustainable infrastructure by significantly reducing electricity and water consumption compared to older government buildings.

According to official data released on Thursday, the modern office campus consumes 76% less electricity, resulting in savings of nearly 4.45 lakh units of power every month in a single block. The achievement highlights the government’s focus on developing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly public infrastructure.

The office of Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal described Kartavya Bhavan-3 as a shining example of New India’s future-ready government infrastructure. The building has been designed with advanced green building technologies that not only reduce energy consumption but also promote sustainable resource management.

In addition to electricity savings, the campus has also achieved remarkable water conservation. It reduces fresh water consumption by 49% by recycling and reusing nearly 3 lakh litres of water every day. This efficient water management system helps lower dependence on fresh water sources while supporting long-term environmental sustainability.

The Central Vista redevelopment project aims to modernize government infrastructure in the national capital with buildings that are technologically advanced, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible. Kartavya Bhavan-3 demonstrates how sustainable design can reduce operational costs while minimizing the environmental impact of large government facilities.

Experts believe that such green buildings can serve as a benchmark for future public infrastructure projects across India. By incorporating renewable technologies, efficient lighting systems, water recycling facilities, and eco-friendly construction practices, these buildings contribute to the country’s broader climate and sustainability goals.

As India continues to invest in modern infrastructure, projects like Kartavya Bhavan-3 showcase how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand, creating government workplaces that are efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious.
