Akash Ambani Says Jio Will Take Indian Technology Global Across Connectivity, Digital Products, Enterprise Solutions and AI

New Delhi (Economy India): After establishing a strong presence in India over the past decade, digital services major Jio is now looking to expand its footprint in global markets with technology developed in India across connectivity, digital products, enterprise solutions and artificial intelligence.

Jio Platforms Managing Director and Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani, in a letter to employees marking Jio’s 10-year journey, said the company has built the foundation of Digital India at an unprecedented scale and now sees an opportunity to take its technology and innovation to the world.

From India’s Digital Transformation to Global Ambitions

Reflecting on Jio’s decade-long journey, Ambani highlighted the company’s contribution to India’s digital transformation.

He said Jio has accelerated the country’s transition to 5G, expanded connectivity to homes and businesses and continued to develop technology aimed at making digital services accessible to people across the country.

According to Ambani, Jio has evolved significantly beyond its identity as a telecom company.

“Jio today is much more than a telecom company.”

The company is now building original technology in India across several areas, including connectivity, digital products, enterprise solutions and AI.

Focus on Made-in-India Technology

A key part of Jio’s next phase is the development and deployment of made-in-India technology for global markets.

The company sees an opportunity to leverage its technology capabilities and scale beyond India, potentially positioning the country not only as a major consumer of digital technology but also as a creator and exporter of technology solutions.

Ambani said the opportunity ahead is to continue making technology accessible at scale while taking these technologies global.

AI Emerges as a Strategic Focus

Artificial intelligence is emerging as one of the important areas of Jio’s technology strategy.

Alongside connectivity, digital products and enterprise solutions, the company is building capabilities in AI in India.

The focus on AI comes as businesses and consumers globally increasingly adopt artificial intelligence across communications, productivity, customer services, enterprise operations and digital platforms.

Jio’s ambition to develop AI and other technologies domestically and take them to international markets could add a new dimension to India’s growing technology ecosystem.

Building on a Decade of Connectivity

Jio’s 10-year journey has been closely associated with the rapid expansion of affordable digital connectivity in India.

The company has played a major role in expanding mobile data usage and accelerating the adoption of 4G and subsequently 5G services.

Its focus has also expanded toward connecting homes and businesses and developing a broader digital-services ecosystem.

The company’s latest global ambitions build on this connectivity foundation while moving further into technology products and enterprise solutions.

Strengthening India’s Position as a Technology Creator

Jio’s planned global push could contribute to India’s broader ambition of becoming a technology-development and innovation hub.

Taking Indian-developed technology to international markets could help strengthen India’s position in the global digital economy and demonstrate that technology products and platforms developed in the country can serve customers worldwide.

For Jio, the next decade could therefore involve a transition from primarily building India’s digital infrastructure and services ecosystem to becoming a more significant global technology player.

Jio’s Next Decade

As Jio completes 10 years, its strategy appears increasingly focused on combining its large domestic scale with technology innovation.

Connectivity will remain an important part of the business, while digital products, enterprise solutions and artificial intelligence are expected to play a growing role in the company’s expansion.

The company’s global ambitions underline a broader shift in India’s technology landscape—from being a large market for global technology companies to becoming a source of technology and digital solutions for international markets.
