(Economy India):Bangladesh has requested India to increase diesel supplies as the country continues to face electricity and gas shortages. The request was made during a meeting between Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi and Bangladesh’s Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood in Dhaka.

According to the Indian High Commission, the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between India and Bangladesh in the power and energy sectors. The meeting focused on expanding bilateral energy partnerships and ensuring a stable supply of essential fuel.

Bangladesh has been dealing with persistent power shortages due to rising energy demand and limited domestic fuel availability. Additional diesel imports from India are expected to support electricity generation and improve energy security, especially during periods of high demand.

India has remained one of Bangladesh’s key energy partners, supplying petroleum products and electricity through cross-border infrastructure. The latest request highlights the growing importance of regional energy cooperation in maintaining stable power supplies and supporting economic growth.
