( Economy India ):Clean and well-managed cities improve the quality of life, protect public health, and support tourism and economic growth. Every year, India’s Swachh Survekshan ranks cities based on cleanliness, waste management, sanitation, and citizen participation. These cities have consistently set high standards and serve as examples for the rest of the country.

1. Indore, Madhya Pradesh

Indore has maintained its position as one of India’s cleanest cities for several years. The city is known for its efficient door-to-door waste collection, waste segregation, recycling, and strong public participation. Clean roads, well-maintained public spaces, and innovative waste management practices have made Indore a national benchmark.

2. Surat, Gujarat

Surat has earned recognition for its modern sanitation systems and excellent waste management. The city has invested heavily in cleanliness, drainage, and public hygiene, making it one of the cleanest urban centers in India.

3. Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra

Navi Mumbai is admired for its clean streets, organized infrastructure, green spaces, and effective solid waste management. Continuous efforts by local authorities and residents have helped the city maintain high cleanliness standards.

4. Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam combines natural beauty with strong civic management. The city focuses on waste segregation, public awareness campaigns, and maintaining clean beaches, parks, and roads.

5. Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Ahmedabad has significantly improved its sanitation and waste disposal systems over the years. Smart waste collection, better public facilities, and active citizen participation have helped the city become one of India’s cleanest metropolitan areas.

The success of these cities shows that effective governance, modern waste management, and active public participation can create cleaner and healthier urban environments. As more Indian cities adopt sustainable sanitation practices, the country moves closer to achieving its vision of a cleaner and greener future.
