ITANAGAR, (Economy india): Nineteen children were rescued from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh and three suspected brokers were arrested during a crackdown on a suspected child trafficking network, police said on Tuesday.

The case came to light after the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Namsai district lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered at Namsai police station on August 17. Police subsequently launched an investigation to trace the children and identify people allegedly involved in transporting or facilitating their movement.

According to officials, the rescued children were traced from several locations across Arunachal Pradesh. These included Mechuka in Shi-Yomi district, Aalo in West Siang, Pasighat in East Siang, Naharlagun, Itanagar and Longding.

The wide geographical spread of the rescue operation indicates that the suspected network may have been operating across multiple districts. Investigators are now examining the role of the three arrested brokers and are looking into possible links with other individuals involved in the alleged trafficking activities.

The rescued children have been placed under the care and protection of the appropriate authorities, with child welfare officials involved in the process.

Police said the investigation is continuing and further details are expected to emerge as officials question the arrested suspects and verify the circumstances in which the children were moved between different locations.

Authorities have also stressed the importance of cooperation from the public and child protection agencies in identifying vulnerable children and preventing trafficking-related activities.

The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement and child welfare authorities in Arunachal Pradesh to prevent child trafficking, protect vulnerable minors and take action against those involved in such networks.
