State-owned lender reports steady earnings growth in the first quarter of FY2026-27

New Delhi (Economy India): State-owned Canara Bank reported a 2% year-on-year increase in its standalone net profit to ₹4,856 crore for the first quarter (April–June) of FY2026-27, reflecting stable operational performance despite a challenging banking environment.

The Bengaluru-headquartered public sector lender had posted a net profit of ₹4,752 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Total Income Registers Healthy Growth

Canara Bank’s total income increased to ₹39,684 crore in the June quarter, compared with ₹38,063 crore recorded in the same period last year, according to a regulatory filing.

The increase in income highlights the bank’s steady business growth and improved revenue generation during the quarter.
