MUMBAI, (Economy india): Axis Bank has inaugurated 50 new branches across India as part of its Independence Week celebrations, strengthening its presence across urban, semi-urban and rural markets.
The new branches have been opened across eight states, including Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. The expansion reflects the bank’s focus on reaching customers beyond major cities and improving access to formal banking services in smaller towns and emerging markets.
The new branches will provide customers with a range of services, including savings and current accounts, loans, deposits, digital banking assistance and other financial products. ATM facilities will also be available at the new locations.
A key feature of the expansion is the availability of doorstep banking, which can make basic banking services more convenient for customers who may find it difficult to visit branches regularly. The branches will also include accessible infrastructure for customers with different mobility needs.
Regional language support is another important aspect of the new branches. Providing banking assistance in local languages can help customers better understand financial products, documentation and digital banking services.
Branch expansion also remains relevant despite the rapid growth of digital banking in India. While mobile and internet banking have made routine transactions easier, physical branches continue to play an important role in services such as loans, financial advice, account-related assistance and customer support.
With the addition of these 50 branches, Axis Bank is seeking to combine its growing digital capabilities with a wider physical network, allowing it to serve customers across different parts of the country.
