Over 4.21 Lakh Beneficiaries Registered Under PMAY-U 2.0

Mumbai (Economy India): Maharashtra has recorded significant progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, with 4,21,083 beneficiaries registering on the unified web portal as of July 30, 2026. The state has also received approval for the construction of 1,60,463 houses, according to an official government release.

The development reflects the state’s continued efforts to expand access to affordable housing for urban residents under the Centre’s flagship housing programme.

CM Reviews Housing Projects

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of PMAY (Urban) 2.0 and the availability of housing stock under various government housing schemes.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed all implementing agencies to expedite housing projects and ensure timely completion of approved homes across the state.

1.60 Lakh Houses Approved

The government said a total of 1,60,463 houses have been sanctioned under different components of PMAY (Urban) 2.0, including:

  • Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC)
  • Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP)
  • Affordable Housing in Partnership under Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
  • Affordable Rental Housing (ARH)

These verticals are designed to address diverse housing needs, ranging from individual home construction to affordable rental accommodation for urban migrants and economically weaker sections.

Affordable Housing Push

PMAY (Urban) 2.0 aims to improve urban housing by providing financial assistance and promoting partnerships between governments and private developers.

The scheme focuses on:

  • Affordable housing for economically weaker sections
  • Urban infrastructure development
  • Public-private partnerships
  • Rental housing for migrant workers
  • Sustainable urban growth

Maharashtra Strengthens Housing Delivery

The review meeting also focused on accelerating project implementation, improving coordination among agencies, and ensuring that beneficiaries receive homes within the stipulated timelines.

Officials were instructed to monitor project execution closely and address bottlenecks to speed up construction.
