Capital Group Invests ₹374 Crore in IIFL Finance

(Economy India): Global investment firm Capital Group has acquired a 1.54% stake in IIFL Finance Ltd. for approximately ₹374 crore through open market transactions, according to block deal data available on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The transaction reflects continued institutional interest in India’s financial services sector and comes amid strong investor participation in banking and non-banking financial stocks.

Stake Purchased Through Affiliates

According to the block deal data, the US-based investment giant made the investment through its two affiliated funds:

  • SmallCap World Fund Inc
  • American Funds Insurance Series – Global Small Capitalization Fund

Together, the two funds purchased 63,39,355 equity shares, representing around 1.49% of IIFL Finance’s equity.

Overall, Capital Group acquired a 1.54% stake in the company from Fairfax India’s affiliate.

IIFL Finance Shares Rise

Following the transaction, investor sentiment remained positive.

Shares of IIFL Finance rose 2.43% during Friday’s trading session to ₹622.60 per share on the NSE, reflecting market confidence after the entry of a leading global institutional investor.

Institutional Interest in Indian Financial Sector

The investment highlights growing confidence among foreign institutional investors in India’s financial services industry. Strong credit demand, improving asset quality, digital lending expansion, and long-term economic growth continue to make Indian NBFCs attractive investment opportunities.

Market experts believe investments by globally renowned asset managers often strengthen investor confidence and improve liquidity in listed companies.
