Meta restores Prime Minister’s post after government seeks explanation over content removal

New Delhi (Economy India): The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has summoned Meta’s Global Head of Public Policy after the social media company removed a Facebook post by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to official sources.

The move follows concerns over the removal of a post in which the Prime Minister addressed the youth and outlined the government’s commitment to tackling paper leaks and strengthening the examination system.

Meta Admits Error, Restores Content

Responding to the controversy, a Meta spokesperson acknowledged that the content had been removed mistakenly.

“The content was removed in error and has since been restored,” the company said in a statement.

The post is now available again on Facebook.

IT Ministry Seeks Explanation

Sources said the IT Ministry has called Meta’s Global Head of Public Policy to explain the circumstances surrounding the removal of the Prime Minister’s post.

The incident has drawn attention to content moderation practices on major social media platforms and their handling of posts from public officials.

Post Related to Student Outreach

The video was originally posted on July 23, during ongoing student protests organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

In the message, Prime Minister Modi assured young people that the government would take strict measures against paper leaks and work to strengthen the integrity of competitive examinations.
