Union Budget Ignores Key Concerns of Unemployment and Inflation: Aam Aadmi Party

SHARESHARESHARESHARE

New Delhi (Economy India): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday criticised the Union Budget 2026–27, accusing the central government of ignoring the country’s core challenges, including unemployment, rising inflation and federal imbalance, while marginalising states such as Goa and Punjab.

In a statement, the party said the budget fails to address the economic pressures faced by ordinary citizens and does not provide meaningful relief to states governed by non-BJP parties.

Budget May Worsen Inflation and Joblessness: Kejriwal

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that from a national perspective, the budget could lead to an increase in both inflation and unemployment, rather than easing existing economic stress.

“When viewed from a national perspective, this budget will aggravate inflation and unemployment instead of resolving them,” Kejriwal said.

He added that the budget lacks concrete measures to generate large-scale employment and curb the rising cost of living.

Allegations of Federal Imbalance

The party also alleged that the budget undermines the federal structure, claiming that certain states have been systematically sidelined in allocations and policy priorities.

AAP leaders argued that states like Punjab and Goa have not received adequate support, despite their economic and developmental needs.

Demand for People-Centric Economic Policies

AAP reiterated its demand for a people-centric budget, calling for:

  • Stronger employment-generation programmes
  • Direct measures to control inflation
  • Fair and transparent allocation of resources to states

The party said economic policymaking should prioritise the needs of common citizens rather than focusing solely on headline growth figures.

Political Reactions Continue

The Union Budget 2026–27 has drawn mixed reactions across the political spectrum, with opposition parties questioning its social and economic impact, while the government has defended it as a growth-oriented and reform-driven roadmap.
