Economy India | Global EV giant Tesla Inc., led by Elon Musk, has officially launched its first supercharging station in India, marking a major step in expanding the EV infrastructure across the country. The station is located in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and features advanced fast-charging capabilities.

⚡ Charging Capabilities: 300 km in 14 Minutes

The newly operational station includes:

  • 4 V4 Superchargers (DC Fast Chargers)
  • 4 Destination Chargers (AC Chargers)

Each V4 Supercharger delivers up to 250 kW, enabling Tesla vehicles to gain 300 kilometers of range in just 14 minutes. The DC supercharging cost is ₹24/kWh, while AC destination charging is priced at ₹14/kWh.

🏙️ Part of a Larger Expansion Plan

This station is the first of 8 supercharging sites Tesla announced for India. Additional stations are planned across Delhi, Mumbai, and upcoming cities like:

  • Pune
  • Hyderabad
  • Bengaluru

The move aligns with Tesla’s broader strategy to support a robust EV ecosystem and promote green mobility solutions in India.

🚘 Tesla Model Y Launch & Experience Center

In July 2025, Tesla opened its first showroom (Experience Center) in Mumbai and launched the Model Y SUV. The car boasts:

  • Up to 622 km range on full charge
  • 8 airbags
  • Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)

The vehicle is tailored for Indian driving conditions while maintaining global safety standards.

🗣️ EV Industry Outlook

With this launch, Tesla reinforces its long-term commitment to India’s EV market. As the government pushes for increased EV adoption, especially in metro cities, infrastructure like superchargers will play a pivotal role in reducing “range anxiety” among consumers.
