Congress Leader Alleges India’s Education System Has Become a ‘Dishonest Extortion Mechanism’
New Delhi, (Economy India): Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Central government, alleging that India’s education system has become a “dishonest extortion mechanism” and calling for a “revolution” to end corruption in the sector.
His remarks came ahead of his second interaction with students under the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ initiative.
Rahul Gandhi Targets Education System
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi claimed that students themselves are describing India’s education system as “corrupt, unjust, biased, and dishonest.”
“These four words are not mine; they are the words students are using today for India’s education system. The truth is that India’s education system has now become a dishonest extortion mechanism,” Gandhi said.
Alleges Government Silence
The Congress leader also accused the Narendra Modi-led government of remaining silent on alleged corruption in the education sector.
He alleged that despite concerns raised by students, the Centre and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have failed to ensure accountability.
According to Gandhi, the government’s silence reflects its unwillingness to address issues affecting students and educational institutions.
Calls for a Revolution
Rahul Gandhi asserted that the time has come for a “revolution” in the education sector to restore fairness, transparency, and equal opportunities for students.
His comments are expected to feature prominently during the upcoming ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ interaction, where he is scheduled to engage with students on issues related to education and youth aspirations.
Political Debate Likely to Intensify
The statement is likely to trigger a fresh political debate between the Congress and the BJP over the state of India’s education system, educational reforms, examination transparency, and governance in the sector.
