NEW DELHI: (Economy india): Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is leading a 70-member business delegation to Singapore as India looks to deepen trade, investment and economic cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation.

The three-day visit began on August 19 and is aimed at strengthening business-to-business ties and exploring new opportunities for Indian companies in Singapore.

Goyal is scheduled to participate in the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) on August 20. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will also participate in the meeting.

The ministerial roundtable is an important platform for both countries to discuss economic cooperation and identify new areas for collaboration.

The presence of a 70-member business delegation underlines India’s focus on increasing private-sector participation and attracting investment. Discussions are expected to cover opportunities for expanding trade, investment and partnerships across key sectors.

Singapore is an important economic partner for India and has emerged as a major source of foreign investment. The visit is expected to further strengthen the relationship and create new opportunities for businesses from both countries.

The delegation’s visit comes as India continues efforts to expand its international trade partnerships, attract global investments and provide Indian businesses with greater access to international markets.
