Partnerships to provide startups with technology, digital infrastructure, mentorship, market access and industry networks
New Delhi (Economy India): The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on Thursday announced that it has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with PhonePe and Shell India to strengthen support for startups across India.
The partnerships are aimed at improving startups’ access to technology, digital infrastructure, mentorship, market opportunities and industry networks, DPIIT said.

PhonePe to Offer Digital and Payment Support
Under its collaboration with DPIIT, PhonePe will provide a range of benefits to DPIIT-recognised startups.
The support package will include:
- Transaction credits through PhonePe’s payment gateway
- Access to the Indus AppStore
- Dedicated onboarding and support services
- Opportunities for enhanced brand visibility
- Access to digital infrastructure and relevant industry networks
The initiative is expected to help startups strengthen their digital capabilities and improve access to tools required to scale their businesses.
Focus on Startup Growth
For early-stage companies, access to reliable payment infrastructure, technology platforms, industry networks and market opportunities can play an important role in scaling operations.
The partnership with PhonePe is designed to provide startups with practical digital resources while helping them navigate technology and payment-related requirements.

Shell India Partnership to Expand Industry Linkages
DPIIT has also entered into a partnership with Shell India, aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem through greater access to industry networks, expertise and opportunities.
The collaboration is expected to help connect startups with established industry players and create avenues for mentorship, technology adoption and market access.

Strengthening India’s Startup Ecosystem
The latest partnerships are part of broader efforts to create a stronger support system for India’s growing startup ecosystem.
By bringing together government initiatives and private-sector capabilities, DPIIT aims to help recognised startups access resources that can support innovation, market expansion and business growth.
Technology companies and large industry players can also benefit from closer engagement with emerging startups, particularly in areas involving new technologies, digital solutions and innovative business models.
