In a telephone conversation amid strengthening bilateral ties, Netanyahu conveyed to PM Modi that Israel values its multifaceted partnership with New Delhi, underpinned by a shared resolve to combat terrorism and promote regional and global security. According to official sources, the two leaders reviewed key areas of cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the relationship across strategic, defence, technology, and economic domains.

“The Prime Minister of Israel underscored the importance Israel places on its partnership with India and the common determination of both countries to defeat terrorism,” the statement said. Netanyahu also noted that he looks forward to meeting Prime Minister Modi personally “in the near future” to carry forward discussions at the highest political level.

Strategic Ties on an Upward Trajectory

India and Israel have, over the past decade, built a robust and diversified partnership spanning defence and security, counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, agriculture, water management, innovation, cyber security, and high technology. Regular exchanges at the leadership level have played a pivotal role in sustaining momentum in bilateral ties.

Defence cooperation remains a cornerstone of the relationship, with Israel being one of India’s key partners in advanced military technologies, surveillance systems, and homeland security solutions. Both countries also collaborate closely in counter-terrorism, sharing intelligence and best practices to address evolving security threats.

Technology, Innovation, and Economic Cooperation

Beyond security, India–Israel ties have expanded significantly in technology and innovation. Joint initiatives in start-ups, artificial intelligence, fintech, and research and development have gained traction, supported by growing people-to-people contacts and institutional linkages.

Trade and investment cooperation has also witnessed steady growth, with both sides exploring opportunities to enhance collaboration in sectors such as renewable energy, health technologies, defence manufacturing, and agri-tech. Discussions on further easing business linkages and strengthening supply chain resilience are expected to be part of future high-level engagements.

Looking Ahead

Netanyahu’s expressed interest in meeting PM Modi soon signals continued political focus on elevating the bilateral partnership amid a complex global and regional environment. Analysts note that sustained engagement between New Delhi and Jerusalem reflects converging strategic interests, shared democratic values, and a pragmatic approach to addressing security and development challenges.

As India positions itself as a key global player and Israel seeks deeper partnerships beyond its region, the India–Israel relationship is expected to remain a significant pillar of both countries’ foreign policy priorities in the coming years.
