THIRUVANANTHAPURAM (Economy India): Kerala Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal on Thursday presented the state budget for the financial year 2026–27, announcing a major allocation of ₹14,500 crore for social security pensions, along with an increase in honorariums for ASHA and Anganwadi workers.

Presenting the sixth budget of the second Pinarayi Vijayan-led government in the Kerala Assembly, Balagopal said the government remains committed to strengthening welfare schemes and supporting frontline health and childcare workers.

The enhanced allocation for social security pensions is aimed at ensuring timely payments to beneficiaries, including senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sections of society.

The announcements come amid continued emphasis by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government on social welfare, healthcare delivery, and inclusive development, even as the state navigates fiscal constraints.
