Guwahati (Economy India):In a major anti-drug operation, two persons were arrested and banned Yaba tablets worth approximately ₹8 crore were seized in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Assam Police and the Assam Rifles, resulting in the recovery of nearly 80,000 Yaba tablets from the accused.
Sharing the development on social media platform X, the Chief Minister praised the joint operation with a rhyming message:
“Roses are red, Violets are blue, 80,000 tablets seized, Zero sympathy for you.”
Officials said the seizure is part of the state’s continued crackdown on drug trafficking and organized narcotics networks. The recovered Yaba tablets have an estimated market value of around ₹8 crore.
The identities of the arrested individuals and further details of the investigation have not yet been officially disclosed. Authorities are working to trace the source and intended destination of the banned narcotics.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Assam’s security agencies to curb the illegal drug trade and strengthen border security in the region.
