SHIMLA, (Economy India): Seven passengers were killed and 11 others injured after a private bus overturned and plunged onto a lower road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Saturday morning, police said.

The accident took place around 7:15 am near Chalunj Mor, a sharp curve on the Bairagarh-Tissa road. The bus was travelling from Bairagarh towards Chamba when it lost control and overturned on the mountainous stretch.

The Bairagarh-Tissa road is a 27-kilometre route through the remote Churah Valley. The road is considered challenging because of its narrow stretches, steep slopes and sharp curves. It also serves as an important route towards the high-altitude Sach Pass, a popular but difficult mountain route in the region.

Following the accident, police and rescue teams reached the site and began rescue operations. The injured passengers were taken to medical facilities for treatment. Authorities are also working to establish the exact circumstances that caused the bus to overturn.

The accident has once again highlighted the risks associated with travelling on narrow and difficult mountain roads in Himachal Pradesh, particularly on routes with steep drop-offs and sharp bends.
