Sitharaman to hold discussions with global business leaders and CEOs on investment opportunities and economic cooperation
Washington (Economy India): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has arrived in the United States for a six-day visit during which she will participate in the G20 Finance Ministers’ Meeting and hold discussions with leading corporate executives and business leaders on investment opportunities.
Sitharaman arrived at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Thursday after completing a three-day visit to Canada, where she participated in the first India-Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue.
Focus on G20 Economic Discussions
During her visit to the United States, Sitharaman is scheduled to participate in discussions with fellow G20 finance ministers.
The meetings are expected to provide an important platform for discussions on global economic developments, financial stability, investment and cooperation among major economies.
India’s participation comes at a time when global economies continue to navigate challenges related to growth, trade, investment and financial markets.

Meetings With Global Business Leaders
A key component of Sitharaman’s US visit will be her meetings with chief executive officers (CEOs) of major companies and business leaders.
The discussions will focus on investment opportunities and India’s economic prospects, providing an opportunity to highlight the country’s growing investment potential.
Engagement with global businesses is also expected to strengthen India’s efforts to attract investment and deepen economic ties with international companies.
Visit Follows Canada Engagement
Before travelling to the United States, Sitharaman spent three days in Canada.
During her Canadian visit, she participated in the first India-Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue, an important platform for discussions on economic and financial cooperation between the two countries.
The dialogue provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore avenues for strengthening bilateral economic engagement.
India Steps Up Global Economic Engagement
Sitharaman’s back-to-back visits to Canada and the United States underscore India’s continued engagement with major global economies.
Participation in international financial forums such as the G20 allows India to contribute to discussions on global economic policy while also presenting its priorities on trade, investment and financial cooperation.
At the same time, meetings with international business leaders can help strengthen investor confidence and identify new opportunities for capital and technology flows into India.
Investment Opportunities in Focus
India has increasingly positioned itself as an attractive destination for global investment, supported by its large domestic market, infrastructure development and expanding manufacturing and services sectors.
Discussions between the Finance Minister and global corporate leaders are expected to cover potential investment opportunities and India’s economic outlook.
Such engagements can also provide a platform for businesses to understand India’s policy environment and explore opportunities in sectors with significant growth potential.
Importance of G20 Finance Ministers’ Meeting
The G20 Finance Ministers’ Meeting brings together finance ministers and senior economic policymakers from some of the world’s largest economies.
The forum plays an important role in discussions concerning the global economy, financial stability, international taxation, development financing and other economic issues.
India’s participation gives New Delhi an opportunity to present its views on global economic challenges and contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening international economic cooperation.
Strengthening India’s Global Economic Position
The Finance Minister’s international engagements form part of India’s broader efforts to strengthen economic partnerships and attract investment.
With global companies reassessing supply chains and investment destinations, direct engagement with international businesses can help India showcase its economic strengths and policy priorities.
The meetings also provide an opportunity to discuss ways of expanding commercial and financial ties between India and global markets.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s six-day visit to the United States is set to focus on India’s participation in the G20’s economic discussions as well as engagement with global business leaders.
Her meetings with CEOs and other business representatives are expected to provide an opportunity to discuss investment prospects and strengthen India’s economic links with international companies.
Coming shortly after her participation in the India-Canada Economic and Financial Dialogue, the US visit highlights India’s continued efforts to deepen global economic cooperation and promote investment opportunities.
