Mallcom India Limited, India’s first integrated manufacturer of Head-to-Toe Personal Protection Equipment, has rolled out a mask advocacy campaign #MaskPehnoCertifiedPehno in order to create awareness and reinforce the use of medically certified face masks among the masses. While the Government and various public and private organizations, influencers and media are continuously trying to promote the use of facemasks to fight the pandemic, Mallcom India’s mask awareness campaign not only urges people to wear the facemask, but also makes them aware of the importance of using the ‘right’ mask to remain safe from virus infection.

As India is grappling with the third wave of COVID pandemic, people should continue following the safety protocols ardently – while people are still wearing the facemasks to some extent, majority of them are not considering whether they are wearing the right mask. This is where Mallcom, as a brand for people’s safety, asks the most crucial question if we are wearing the certified face mask through its campaign – it highlights the Indian, US and European Standards of face masks and mentions the factors to be taken into consideration while purchasing a face mask.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, everyone has been told to use N95 face masks, but little awareness is generated why only a certified N95 mask can serve the real purpose. N95 being an USA standard certified by USA’s NIOSH agency lacks proper availability in the Indian market, therefore we should focus on the face masks certified by Indian standards i.e., IS9473:2002 Indian FFP2 or FFP3 mask. Consumers should check the ISI marking and the brand’s CM/L code signifying the BIS certification of manufacturing company before purchasing the right face mask.

To take forward this message, Mallcom India has rolled out an informative conversational video created by the agency Brand Bee and conceptualized by Sacred Communications that speaks on the different valid certifications of face masks and asks Indians to get self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) by using IS9473:2002 face masks which are certified as per Indian standards. The brand has also developed a microsite including all FAQs regarding certification of facemasks under www.maskpehnocertifiedpehno.com. This will be a one-stop information centre for anything related to wearing facemasks, the absolute guide to select the medically certified mask and use it with appropriate protocols. People are also encouraged to take a pledge to wear only certified facemask through the campaign.

Elaborating on the initiative, Ajay Kumar Mall, Managing Director, Mallcom India Limited said, “We look at the core of safety and hence understand the significance of making people understand that it is not the mask but also the kind of mask they are using to save themselves. Besides, though we have many types of face masks available in the market that are certified by foreign standards, we Indians should become self-dependent in our choice and go for Indian certified face masks which are equally protective to fight the virus. Our aim is to reiterate this message all across and let the impact get reflected through people’s choice.”

Campaign #MaskPehnoCertifiedPehno by Mallcom India aims to grow a sense of responsibility among the audience for ensuring safety and take a pledge towards the Make in India initiative. The campaign has been conceptualized and brought to life in partnership with Brand Bee and Sacred Communications. Besides distributing free certified masks among public, the campaign is also being amplified through partnerships with leading print, online and electronic media platforms along with on-ground awareness and vaccination programs informing the mass about checking the right certification before using any facemasks.
