The electric and LNG truck manufacturer partners with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to accelerate the replacement of older, high-polluting commercial vehicles with cleaner alternatives
MUMBAI (Economy India): Blue Energy Motors, a manufacturer of electric and liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered trucks, has joined the Central Government’s ‘Parivartan’ scheme for Delhi-NCR, an initiative aimed at replacing older, high-polluting commercial vehicles with cleaner alternatives through targeted incentives and coordinated implementation.
The company said on Thursday that it had entered into an initial agreement with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to participate in the commercial vehicle modernisation initiative.
The move is expected to support the wider adoption of cleaner heavy-duty trucks in freight transportation and logistics, while contributing to efforts to reduce vehicular pollution in the National Capital Region.
Blue Energy Motors to Promote Cleaner Freight Transportation
Through its participation in the Parivartan scheme, Blue Energy Motors aims to encourage fleet operators and logistics companies to adopt cleaner heavy-duty vehicle technologies.
The initiative seeks to facilitate the replacement of older commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses that contribute significantly to transport-related emissions, with vehicles that have a lower environmental impact.
For freight operators, the transition could create opportunities to modernise fleets, explore alternative powertrain technologies and align transportation operations with increasingly important environmental objectives.
Blue Energy Motors said its participation reflects its commitment to supporting the adoption of zero-tailpipe-emission heavy electric trucks in India’s freight and logistics sector.

Parivartan Scheme Targets Vehicle Pollution in Delhi-NCR
Delhi-NCR faces persistent air-quality challenges, with road transportation among the sources of pollution. Older commercial vehicles can contribute to emissions of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides, depending on their engine technology, fuel and operating condition.
The Parivartan initiative aims to accelerate the transition towards cleaner commercial transportation through targeted incentives and coordinated implementation.
By encouraging the replacement of more polluting vehicles, the programme seeks to help reduce transport-related emissions and improve air quality across the National Capital Region.
The effectiveness of the initiative will depend on factors such as the design of incentives, participation by fleet operators, vehicle availability, charging or refuelling infrastructure and the pace at which older vehicles are replaced.
‘Policy Support Can Accelerate Zero-Emission Freight’
Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder and Managing Director of Blue Energy Motors, said the company’s participation reflects its commitment to the government’s vision of promoting green transportation and expanding the use of heavy electric trucks.
He emphasised that advanced technology, a strong domestic manufacturing ecosystem and appropriate policy support could play an important role in accelerating the transformation of India’s freight sector towards zero-carbon-emission transportation.
The company sees policy-backed initiatives as an opportunity to expand the adoption of cleaner trucks and encourage commercial fleet operators to consider more sustainable transportation solutions.
More Than 1,400 Cleaner Heavy-Duty Trucks in Operation
Blue Energy Motors manufactures heavy-duty trucks powered by electricity and LNG. According to the company, more than 1,400 of its environmentally friendly heavy-duty trucks are operating on major freight corridors across India.
Its participation in the Parivartan scheme could support efforts to expand the role of alternative-fuel and electric trucks in commercial transportation, particularly where fleet modernisation and emissions reduction are priorities.
Electric trucks offer the potential for zero tailpipe emissions, although their overall environmental benefits depend partly on how the electricity used to charge them is generated. LNG-powered trucks can have different emissions characteristics from diesel vehicles, with actual benefits depending on engine technology, methane leakage and operating
conditions.

Cleaner Trucks Could Support India’s Green Logistics Transition
India’s freight sector is central to economic activity, connecting manufacturers, agricultural producers, warehouses, ports and markets across the country. However, dependence on conventional diesel-powered heavy vehicles also creates environmental and fuel-efficiency challenges.
Initiatives such as Parivartan could help bring together government policy, vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators to accelerate the adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles.
For the transition to gain momentum, financial incentives will need to work alongside reliable charging and refuelling infrastructure, competitive vehicle economics, after-sales support and suitable financing options for fleet owners.
Blue Energy Motors’ participation adds another industry player to the push for cleaner freight transportation. The initiative’s longer-term impact will depend on how quickly older vehicles are replaced and how widely cleaner technologies are adopted across Delhi-NCR’s commercial transport network.
As India seeks to balance economic growth with improved urban air quality, the modernisation of heavy commercial vehicles is emerging as an important part of the country’s broader clean-mobility transition.
