Investors Managing More Than USD 1 Trillion in Wealth to Participate in Two-Day Summit on September 12-13
New Delhi (Economy India): More than 500 institutional investors, pension funds and family offices, collectively managing wealth of over USD 1 trillion, are expected to participate in the inaugural iBRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi on September 12-13.
The two-day summit is being convened alongside the 18th BRICS Summit in the National Capital and is aimed at connecting sovereign capital with bankable infrastructure, energy and digital capacity projects across the 21 BRICS member states and partner nations.
According to the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute (SWFI), the summit is designed to create a platform where large pools of institutional and sovereign capital can connect with investment opportunities in strategic sectors.

Focus on Infrastructure, Energy and Digital Projects
The iBRICS Summit will focus on investment opportunities in areas such as infrastructure, energy and digital capacity, sectors that are increasingly important for economic growth across emerging markets.
The summit seeks to bridge the gap between global institutional capital and projects that have the potential to generate long-term economic and developmental impact.
With investors representing pension funds, institutional investment firms and family offices, the event is expected to facilitate discussions around capital deployment, infrastructure financing and cross-border investment opportunities.
Summit Comes Amid Changing Global Trade Dynamics
The summit is taking place at a time when BRICS economies are navigating significant changes in global trade and financial markets.
According to SWFI Chairman and iBRICS Lead Co-Chair Lakshmi Narayanan, BRICS economies are adapting to shifting trade dynamics, US tariff pressures and high dollar-clearing costs.
These developments have increased the importance of exploring alternative investment channels, strengthening financial cooperation and improving access to capital for large-scale development projects.
Connecting Sovereign Capital with Investment Opportunities
A key objective of iBRICS is to connect sovereign and institutional capital with projects that are sufficiently developed and financially viable for long-term investment.
Infrastructure and energy projects typically require substantial amounts of capital and long investment horizons, making pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and family offices important potential sources of financing.
The summit is expected to provide a platform for investors and project stakeholders to explore partnerships and identify opportunities across BRICS economies and partner nations.
India Emerges as a Key Platform for Global Capital
Hosting the inaugural iBRICS Summit in New Delhi alongside the BRICS Summit highlights India’s growing role as a platform for international investment and economic cooperation.
The participation of more than 500 institutional investors and funds managing over USD 1 trillion underscores the scale of capital represented at the event.
As global investors increasingly assess opportunities beyond traditional markets, BRICS economies could play a greater role in attracting long-term institutional capital for infrastructure, energy and digital development.
