The five entities collectively sold 48.79 lakh shares of the Pune-based powertrain controls and auto-parts manufacturer through separate block deals.

New Delhi (Economy India): Five entities, including Nandan Nilekani’s NRJN Family Trust, sold a combined 11.05 per cent stake in Sedemac Mechatronics on Thursday for around Rs 1,469 crore through separate block deals on the stock exchanges.

Sedemac Mechatronics is a Pune-based manufacturer of powertrain control systems and automotive components.

According to data available with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the five entities collectively sold 48,79,838 equity shares, representing 11.05 per cent of the company’s total equity.

Stake Sold Through Block Deals

The shares were sold through separate block transactions, with the combined value of the deals amounting to approximately Rs 1,469 crore.

The transaction provides liquidity to existing shareholders while increasing the proportion of shares available for trading in the public market.

Details of the individual sellers and the respective quantities sold were reflected in the exchange data.

Sedemac Mechatronics Business

Sedemac Mechatronics operates in the automotive technology and components segment, with a focus on powertrain control systems and related automotive applications.

Powertrain control systems are an important part of modern vehicles, helping manage and optimise functions associated with the vehicle’s engine, transmission and related systems.

The company is based in Pune, one of India’s major automotive and engineering hubs.

Nandan Nilekani-Linked Trust Among Sellers

The NRJN Family Trust, associated with Infosys co-founder and technology entrepreneur Nandan Nilekani, was among the five entities that participated in the stake sale.

The combined transaction involved more than 48.79 lakh shares, making it a significant block transaction in the company’s equity.

The sale does not by itself indicate any change in the company’s underlying operations. It represents a divestment by existing shareholders through the secondary market.

Automotive Technology Sector

The transaction comes at a time when India’s automotive industry is undergoing significant technological changes, including increased adoption of electronics, software and digitally controlled vehicle systems.

Powertrain technologies are also evolving as automakers invest in more efficient internal-combustion systems, hybrid vehicles and electric mobility.

Companies operating in automotive electronics and control systems therefore form an important part of the broader vehicle technology supply chain.
