Amazon Pay India’s operating revenue rises to Rs 2,484.4 crore in FY26, but standalone net loss increases to Rs 1,148.5 crore.

New Delhi (Economy India): Digital payments company Amazon Pay India Private Limited reported a standalone net loss of Rs 1,148.5 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, marking a significant increase from the loss reported in the previous fiscal.

According to financial documents accessed through business intelligence platform Tofler, the company’s net loss widened from Rs 865.7 crore in FY25 to Rs 1,148.5 crore in FY26.

At the same time, Amazon Pay India recorded strong growth in its operating revenue, indicating an expansion in its business during the year.

Revenue Rises 18.5% in FY26

Revenue from operations increased 18.5 per cent to Rs 2,484.4 crore in FY26, compared with Rs 2,096.6 crore in FY25.

The increase follows a decline in revenue during FY25, when Amazon Pay India’s revenue from operations had fallen nearly 9 per cent from the previous year.

The FY26 revenue growth therefore represents a notable reversal in the company’s top-line performance.

Losses Remain a Key Challenge

Despite the rise in operating revenue, Amazon Pay India’s net loss increased by around 32.7 per cent year-on-year, from Rs 865.7 crore to Rs 1,148.5 crore.

The widening loss highlights the gap between revenue growth and the company’s overall profitability.

Amazon Pay operates in India’s highly competitive digital payments market, where payment platforms compete across UPI transactions, bill payments and other financial and commerce-linked services.

Amazon Pay’s Position in India’s Digital Payments Market

Amazon Pay India is the payments arm of e-commerce major Amazon and offers services including UPI transactions, bill payments, ticket bookings, insurance premium payments and other financial services.

The company received a payment aggregator licence from the Reserve Bank of India in February 2024, following its earlier approval for a prepaid payment instrument (PPI) or wallet licence.

The payments business competes with major digital payment platforms including PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm.

Focus on Expanding Digital Payments Business

The increase in operating revenue during FY26 comes as Amazon Pay continues to expand its presence across India’s digital payments ecosystem.

The company has also built partnerships across services such as travel, entertainment and financial products, enabling customers to access multiple services through its payments platform.

However, the widening FY26 loss indicates that higher revenue has not yet translated into improved bottom-line profitability.

Amazon Pay India’s FY26 financial results underline the contrasting trends in its business: revenue expanded strongly, while net losses widened substantially. The company’s performance will remain closely watched as India’s digital payments industry continues to evolve amid intense competition and changes in the UPI ecosystem.
