MP, GWALIOR (Economy India): As many as 24 companies have submitted investment proposals worth around Rs 5,500 crore for the proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Sunday.
The proposed facility is expected to become Asia’s first telecom manufacturing zone, strengthening Gwalior’s position as an emerging hub for telecom equipment and manufacturing in India.
Scindia shared the information after inspecting land identified for the proposed TMZ at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Counter Magnet City (SADA).
Rs 5,500 Crore Investment Proposals Received
According to Scindia, 24 companies have expressed interest in investing approximately Rs 5,500 crore in the proposed telecom manufacturing zone.
The proposed investments are expected to expand manufacturing capacity in the telecom sector and create a dedicated industrial ecosystem for companies involved in telecom equipment and related technologies.
The development could also strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities as India continues to expand its telecom infrastructure and production base.

18,000 Jobs Expected From Telecom Zone
The Union minister said the project is expected to generate approximately 18,000 jobs.
The employment opportunities are expected to emerge both through direct manufacturing activities and the wider ecosystem of suppliers, services and ancillary businesses associated with the telecom industry.
The proposed zone could therefore provide a significant boost to industrial activity and employment in the Gwalior region.

Gwalior Set to Become Telecom Manufacturing Hub
Scindia said Gwalior is set to emerge as an important telecom manufacturing hub in the country.
The proposed TMZ is planned as a dedicated manufacturing zone and is expected to attract companies looking to establish or expand production facilities in the telecom sector.
Its development would also add a new industrial dimension to Gwalior’s economic profile and could attract further investment into the region.

Asia’s First Telecom Manufacturing Zone
According to the Union minister, the Gwalior TMZ will become Asia’s first telecom manufacturing zone.
The project is intended to create a concentrated ecosystem for telecom manufacturing, potentially bringing manufacturers and supporting businesses closer together.
The development comes as India continues to focus on strengthening domestic electronics and telecommunications manufacturing and expanding its role in global technology supply chains.
Strategic Push for Telecom Manufacturing
The proposed Gwalior zone is expected to support India’s broader manufacturing ambitions in the telecom sector.
With 24 companies already submitting proposals worth Rs 5,500 crore, the project has attracted significant initial interest. The expected creation of around 18,000 jobs could also provide a boost to the local economy.
Further details on the companies, individual investment commitments and the implementation timeline are expected as the project progresses.
