Kolkata ( Economy India ): Veteran actor Rajesh Sharma has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after suffering a suspected insect bite during the shooting of an upcoming film starring Prabhas at Hyderabad‘s Ramoji Film City.
According to a statement released by actor Sudipa Chatterjee on behalf of Sharma’s family, the incident occurred after filming had concluded. Sharma was reportedly interacting with local technicians in a densely vegetated area when he suddenly felt what appeared to be an insect bite.
Initially, the discomfort seemed minor, and the actor did not seek immediate medical attention. However, approximately six hours later, he began experiencing severe pain in his right leg. As his condition worsened, he was taken for medical evaluation and later admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata for treatment.
Doctors are closely monitoring Sharma’s condition, though the exact nature of the insect bite has not yet been confirmed. Further medical tests are being conducted to determine the cause of the symptoms and the appropriate course of treatment.
The incident has raised concerns about safety precautions during outdoor film shoots, particularly in locations with dense vegetation where insects and other wildlife may pose health risks.
Rajesh Sharma is one of India’s most respected character actors, known for his performances in Bengali and Hindi cinema. Fans and members of the film industry have expressed concern over his health and are wishing him a speedy recovery.
