BJP Leader Calls for ‘Double Engine Government’ in Telangana, Targets Congress and BRS

Hyderabad (Economy India): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Navin on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Congress government and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, stating that the state must be liberated from “corrupt and family-based political parties” to achieve its true development potential.

Addressing party workers during his three-day visit to Telangana, Navin urged BJP cadres to intensify their efforts to establish a “double engine government” in the state, referring to BJP governments at both the Centre and the state level.

BJP Inaugurates District Offices

During his visit, Navin virtually inaugurated nine BJP district offices across Telangana from Hyderabad, emphasizing the party’s organizational expansion in the state.

He said that despite the formation of Telangana more than a decade ago, the aspirations of the people remain unfulfilled.

“Thousands of BJP workers and the people of Telangana fought for statehood. However, the dream of Telangana remains incomplete because corrupt and family-based parties have kept the state trapped in their political interests,” he said.

Congress and BRS Accused of Political Compromises

The BJP leader alleged that both Congress and BRS have entered into political understandings with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

He asserted that the BJP would never compromise its principles for political gains.

“BJP always stands with the people. Following the upcoming municipal elections in Hyderabad and other urban areas, only the BJP can fulfill the aspirations of the people,” Navin said.

‘Lotus Must Bloom in Telangana’

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, Navin said Telangana also needs a BJP government to become part of that national transformation.

“If the dream of a developed India is to become a reality, the lotus must bloom in Telangana as well,” he stated.

He added that while the Central government has been serving the people of Telangana through various welfare and development schemes, a double-engine government is essential for accelerating growth.

“I know that until a BJP government comes to power in Telangana, the state cannot move on the path of development that its people envisioned,” he said.

BJP Is Not an Outsider Party

Navin rejected allegations that the BJP is an outsider in Telangana politics.

He recalled that when the BJP had only two seats in the Lok Sabha in 1984, one of those seats came from Telangana.

“This proves that BJP has a long-standing relationship with Telangana and its people,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the BJP’s growing presence across India would eventually lead to electoral success in Telangana as well.

Congress Benefited from Anti-BRS Sentiment

The BJP president said the party had fought strongly against the previous BRS government, but the political advantage ultimately went to Congress.

He accused Congress of repeatedly compromising public interests and claimed that only BJP workers could effectively challenge the ruling party in Telangana.

Bengal Model Cited as Example

Navin referred to the BJP’s organizational growth in West Bengal and urged BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal to intensify efforts in Telangana.

Bansal played a key role in strengthening the party in West Bengal and is expected to contribute significantly to the BJP’s expansion strategy in Telangana.

Tribute to Sushma Swaraj

The BJP president also recalled the contribution of late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj toward the creation of Telangana.

He stated that Swaraj had effectively raised the issue of Telangana statehood in Parliament and played an important role in supporting the aspirations of the people.

BJP Eyes Future Growth in Telangana

As Telangana prepares for upcoming local body elections, the BJP is seeking to expand its organizational strength and position itself as an alternative to both Congress and BRS.

The party leadership believes that growing public dissatisfaction with traditional political parties could create new opportunities for the BJP in the state.

With repeated emphasis on development, governance and a double-engine government model, the BJP appears determined to strengthen its political footprint in Telangana in the coming years.
