Mumbai (Economy India): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sunetra Pawar on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the rehabilitation, empowerment and welfare of acid attack survivors during a meeting held as part of the Janata Darbar (public hearing) programme in Mumbai.

The interaction took place at the NCP’s state office, where Pawar met women acid attack survivors and listened to their concerns regarding rehabilitation, financial assistance, healthcare and social inclusion. She assured them that the Maharashtra government remains sensitive to their needs and is dedicated to ensuring their dignity and empowerment.

According to a party statement, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive support systems for acid attack survivors, including access to healthcare, education, skill development and employment opportunities.

Pawar said the government is committed to creating an environment where survivors can rebuild their lives with confidence and become financially independent. She also stressed the need for coordinated efforts between government departments and social organizations to ensure effective implementation of welfare measures.

The Janata Darbar initiative continues to serve as a platform for citizens to directly communicate their concerns to government representatives and seek timely resolutions to various issues.

As Maharashtra focuses on strengthening social welfare programmes, the state government’s renewed commitment to acid attack survivors highlights its broader objective of promoting inclusion, rehabilitation and women’s empowerment.
