Ranchi (Economy India): The Jharkhand government on Friday approved a series of highway and bridge infrastructure projects worth Rs 378 crore, aimed at improving road connectivity, easing traffic congestion, and supporting economic activity across the state.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, officials said.
Key Approval: Railway Over Bridge in Palamu
One of the major approvals includes the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) between Daltonganj and Rajhara railway stations, near Bajrha village in Palamu district, at an estimated cost of Rs 101.39 crore.
Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said the ROB project will significantly improve road–rail connectivity in the region and help reduce traffic bottlenecks caused by frequent railway crossings.
Focus on Connectivity and Regional Development
The approved infrastructure projects form part of the state government’s broader push to:
- Strengthen road and transport infrastructure
- Improve inter-district connectivity
- Support industrial and agricultural movement
- Enhance road safety and commuter convenience
Officials said several highway improvement and bridge construction proposals were cleared as part of the Rs 378 crore package, though detailed project-wise allocations will be released separately.

Boost to Local Economy and Employment
Infrastructure development is expected to:
- Generate local employment during the construction phase
- Improve access to markets for farmers and small businesses
- Reduce travel time and logistics costs
- Support long-term regional economic growth
Palamu and surrounding districts are expected to be among the key beneficiaries of the new projects.
Part of Ongoing Infrastructure Push
The Jharkhand government has been focusing on upgrading state highways, bridges, and urban connectivity as part of its development agenda. Recent cabinet decisions reflect continued emphasis on public works and capital expenditure to drive growth.
Officials said implementation timelines and tendering processes will be initiated soon following cabinet approval.
With the approval of highway and bridge projects worth Rs 378 crore, the Jharkhand government has taken another step toward strengthening the state’s transport infrastructure and improving connectivity across key regions.
