The declaration came during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association, held at the Circuit House auditorium in Raipur. The meeting witnessed extensive deliberations on audit reports, budgets, and upcoming plans to strengthen the sporting ecosystem of the state.

CM Vishnu Deo Sai, who also serves as the President of the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association, made the announcement amid loud applause from the audience comprising athletes, officials, and members of various sports federations.
He stated:

“We have resumed the sports felicitation ceremonies that were halted in the past. Soon, we will begin the Uttam Khiladi Samman Samaroh to acknowledge our sports heroes,” CM Sai affirmed.

The Chief Minister highlighted the recent expansion of Khelo India complexes across Chhattisgarh. He noted that Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mansukh Mandaviya had recently visited the state and held extensive discussions on sports infrastructure development.
“Our discussions with the Union Sports Minister focused on creating better infrastructure, particularly to support Olympic-level preparation. We are ensuring that our athletes get every possible resource to excel internationally,” Sai said.
The state is now channeling efforts into modern training centers, high-performance academies, and sports science programs to bridge the gap between local and global competitiveness.
Rewarding Excellence – A New Benchmark
Taking athlete motivation to a new level, CM Sai announced cash prizes for Olympic medalists from Chhattisgarh:
- ₹3 crore for Gold medal winners
- ₹2 crore for Silver medal winners
- ₹1 crore for Bronze medal winners

“Under the leadership of our Prime Minister, India has put forth its candidature to host the 2036 Olympic Games. Naturally, this has sparked a renewed national focus on sports preparedness,” Sai remarked.
He added that Chhattisgarh must rise to the occasion by organizing national-level championships and contributing to the Olympic ecosystem through training, infrastructure, and talent identification.

During the AGM, Cabinet Minister and Association Vice President Kedar Kashyap lauded the CM’s leadership and his commitment to sports upliftment.
He highlighted the success of “Bastar Olympics”, an initiative launched under Sai’s leadership that has given tribal and rural athletes a powerful platform.
“The Bastar Olympics has become a symbol of hope for sports talent emerging from remote forest regions. These competitions are bridging the gap between potential and opportunity,” Kashyap said.
Building from the Ground Up – Local to Global
Grassroots programs form the foundation of Chhattisgarh’s sports growth strategy. The state is implementing multi-tiered talent scouting systems, regional academies, and school-level competitions to identify athletes early.
