PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission set to transform rural prosperity; CM Vishnu Deo Sai hails inclusion of three Chhattisgarh districts
CG/Raipur (Economy India): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated two major agricultural initiatives worth over ₹41,000 crore — the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission, aimed at boosting India’s farm sector, ensuring food and protein security, and accelerating the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The announcement was made at a national event held at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, attended by thousands of farmers across the country through virtual conferencing. Among the state leaders, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai joined the event from Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, along with senior officials and hundreds of farmers.

Special Focus on Chhattisgarh’s Aspirational Districts

“This is a matter of great pride for Chhattisgarh. The inclusion of our districts in these schemes will transform the face of farming and bring economic prosperity to our farmers,” said CM Sai while addressing the gathering in Raipur.

PM Modi: “A New Era of Agricultural Self-Reliance”
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the Dalhan Aatmanirbharta Mission would not only make India self-reliant in pulse production but also enhance nutritional security for millions.
“Protein is vital for the physical and mental development of our people. Through this mission, we aim to ensure that India meets its own demand for pulses while benefiting two crore pulse-producing farmers directly,” he said.
He added that the government is implementing 36 new sub-schemes under the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, focusing on income growth, rural infrastructure, and youth participation in modern farming.
Modern Agriculture, Digital Reforms, and GST Impact
During his address, CM Sai cited several recent reforms benefitting farmers. He noted how GST reforms have resulted in savings of ₹40,000–₹60,000 per tractor, and over ₹1 lakh on harvesters — making farm machinery more affordable.
“I recently met a farmer who saved over ₹1 lakh on a harvester purchase after the GST rationalization. These reforms show how directly farmers are benefiting under PM Modi’s leadership,” said Sai.
He reiterated that under his government, Chhattisgarh farmers are already receiving ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy procurement and have been paid pending bonuses for two years. Additionally, over ₹2,800 crore has been sanctioned to improve more than 1,500 irrigation projects across the state.
Strengthening Agricultural Infrastructure
The Chief Minister also inspected exhibition stalls set up by the Agriculture Department and distributed tractors, agricultural tools, and subsidy checks to farmers under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization. He even took a symbolic ride on a tractor, receiving applause from farmers present.
He further added,
“Our government is committed to ensuring that every promise made to farmers is fulfilled. Chhattisgarh’s small and marginal farmers are at the heart of our development model.”
Leaders and Dignitaries Present
The event saw participation from senior officials and representatives including Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation Chairman Chandrahas Chandrakar, Fishery Welfare Board Chairman Bharat Matiyari, Gauseva Commission Chairman Visheshar Singh Patel, District Panchayat Chairman Naveen Agrawal, Agriculture Production Commissioner Shehla Nigar, Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh, and Agriculture Director Rahul Dev, among others.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and Union Minister of State Bhagirath Choudhary were also present virtually.

The launch of these schemes marks a significant stride toward “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, and Jai Anusandhan” — a vision of holistic national growth that aligns with the government’s mission of Viksit Bharat @2047.
With strategic investments, modernization of agricultural practices, and inclusion of aspirational districts, both central and state governments are working in tandem to ensure that the benefits of these mega agricultural reforms reach every farmer.
“These initiatives will usher in a new era of rural prosperity, self-reliance, and food security for India,” concluded CM Vishnu Deo Sai.
