Indian quartet improves timing by nearly 10 seconds but misses podium at Commonwealth Games swimming event

Glasgow (Economy India): India’s men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team delivered a significantly improved performance in the final of the Commonwealth Games swimming competition but finished sixth, while Australia secured the gold medal with a dominant display.

The Indian quartet of Dhakshan Shashikumar, Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda, Aryan Nehra, and Srihari Nataraj clocked 7:29.84, improving their timing by nearly 10 seconds compared to the qualifying heats.

Strong Improvement, But Podium Eludes India

After advancing impressively from the heats, the Indian swimmers entered the final with confidence. Their improved timing reflected better coordination and race execution, but they were unable to keep pace with the world’s leading relay teams in a highly competitive final.

Despite missing out on a medal, the performance highlighted the growing standard of Indian swimming on the international stage.

Positive Signs for Indian Swimming

Although the sixth-place finish was short of a podium result, the significant improvement in timing demonstrates encouraging progress for India’s relay team and provides momentum for upcoming international competitions.
