GLASGOW (Economy India): The Glasgow Commonwealth Games came to a memorable close on Sunday after 11 days of exciting sporting action, with the Commonwealth Games flag and ceremonial baton officially handed over to India, the host of the historic Centenary edition in 2030.

The grand closing ceremony celebrated Scotland’s successful hosting while marking the beginning of India’s preparations for the next Commonwealth Games. The 2030 edition will be staged in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, making it one of the biggest international sporting events ever hosted by India.

During the ceremony, Scottish officials presented the Commonwealth Games flag and baton to Indian representatives, including Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha, and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The symbolic handover officially confirmed India’s role as the next host nation.

India is expected to use the 2030 Commonwealth Games to showcase world-class sporting infrastructure, modern facilities, and its growing ability to organize major global events. The Centenary Games are anticipated to attract thousands of athletes and officials from across the Commonwealth.
