Health Department Intensifies Surveillance Amid Rising Global Concerns Over Ebola Virus

RAIPUR (Economy India): Amid growing global concerns regarding the Ebola virus, the Chhattisgarh Health Department has issued an alert and intensified preventive measures across the state.

Passenger screening has begun at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, where health authorities have set up dedicated screening counters to monitor travellers arriving from other states and international destinations.

Officials said passengers are undergoing health checks along with verification of their travel history as part of precautionary surveillance measures.

Thermal Screening and Health Monitoring Made Mandatory

The Health Department has instructed airport authorities and medical teams to maintain heightened vigilance at the airport.

Nodal Officer Appointed for Monitoring

To strengthen coordination and emergency response, the Health Department has appointed a dedicated nodal officer to supervise airport surveillance and ensure implementation of safety measures.

Medical teams stationed at the airport have also been directed to maintain continuous monitoring and rapid response preparedness.

Authorities said all necessary arrangements for isolation, testing and emergency medical assistance have been kept ready in case any suspected case emerges.

Preventive Steps Amid Global Health Concerns

The precautionary measures come amid increasing international concern regarding the spread of Ebola infections in certain regions globally.

Ebola is a severe viral disease that can spread through direct contact with infected bodily fluids and is known for its high fatality rate if not managed quickly.

Health experts emphasize that early detection, rapid isolation and strict monitoring are critical to preventing the spread of the virus.

Public Advised Not to Panic

Officials have clarified that the current measures are preventive in nature and there is no confirmed Ebola case reported in Chhattisgarh so far.

The Health Department has appealed to citizens not to panic while advising travellers to cooperate with airport screening and follow health advisories issued by authorities.

The state government is expected to continue monitoring the situation closely in coordination with national health agencies.
