Chief Minister’s Statement

CM Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the approvals, emphasizing that enhanced road infrastructure will improve logistics, reduce travel time, and support industrial development in Chhattisgarh. “We are thankful to the Union Government for recognizing the state’s needs and responding swiftly with project approvals and funding,” he said after the meeting.

Strategic Importance

The road upgrades, particularly the four-laning in the State Capital Region, are expected to:

  • Improve traffic flow between Raipur, Naya Raipur, and surrounding towns
  • Support the upcoming capital region’s urban expansion
  • Enhance inter-state freight movement, especially via Katni-Gumla corridor
  • Strengthen rural-urban connectivity for farmers and industries alike

With several important approvals secured and financial green lights on the horizon, Chhattisgarh is poised for a major road infrastructure transformation. The Centre’s Rs600 crore sanction marks a strong collaborative push between state and Union governments toward modernizing connectivity and accelerating regional development.
