RJD leader alleges law and order has collapsed in Bihar and raises concerns over alleged police brutality
Madhubani (Economy India): RJD leader and Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the ruling NDA government over the state’s law-and-order situation, saying he would not allow Bihar to become a “police state.”
Yadav alleged that law and order in Bihar had “completely collapsed” and accused the government of failing to take effective steps to control what he described as rising police brutality.

Tejashwi Meets Family of 19-Year-Old
The RJD national working president was in Madhubani, where he met the family members of 19-year-old Roshan Yadav, who was allegedly found hanging inside Madhubani Jail on August 10.
The incident has raised questions over circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and the functioning of the prison administration.
Yadav expressed concern over the incident and used the occasion to intensify his criticism of the state government over law and order and alleged excesses by police and authorities.
Opposition Targets NDA Government
As Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav has repeatedly raised law-and-order concerns against the NDA government.
On Thursday, he alleged that the government had failed to ensure adequate safeguards for citizens and accused the administration of allowing police excesses to increase.
He said Bihar could not be allowed to turn into a “police state,” signalling that law and order and alleged police brutality are likely to remain key political issues for the opposition.
Madhubani Jail Death Becomes Political Issue
The alleged death of Roshan Yadav inside Madhubani Jail has become a fresh point of political contention.
Yadav’s visit to the victim’s family comes as the opposition seeks greater accountability over incidents involving police and prison authorities.
The circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and any subsequent investigation will be important in determining the facts of the case.
Law and Order Likely to Remain Major Election Issue
Law and order is a politically sensitive issue in Bihar, where opposition parties frequently challenge the government over crime, policing and administrative accountability.
Tejashwi Yadav’s latest remarks are likely to intensify the political debate, with the RJD seeking to portray law and order and alleged police brutality as major governance concerns.
The ruling NDA’s response to the allegations and any official findings into the Madhubani Jail incident will be closely watched.
