Mumbai, (Economy India): Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has alleged that nearly Rs.18 crore in donations are siphoned off every year from Mumbai’s famous Siddhivinayak Temple.

Speaking at a public event, Thackeray claimed that corruption has reached even religious institutions, saying that “even temples are not safe these days.” He also alleged that Rs.1,400 crore had been stolen at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, though he did not provide evidence to support the claim.

The MNS leader urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the issue and ensure greater transparency in the management of temple funds. His remarks have sparked political attention and are expected to trigger reactions from both the government and temple authorities.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, or the central government regarding Thackeray’s allegations.
