JAMMU, (Economy India): Security forces launched extensive search operations on Saturday after suspected Pakistani drones were detected near the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba and Kathua districts, officials said.
According to officials, an aerial object believed to be a Pakistani drone was spotted by Army troops over the forward village of Tarore in the Vijaypur area of Samba late Friday night. The sighting immediately prompted the activation of counter-drone measures by security forces.
The suspected drone reportedly retreated across the International Border into Pakistan before it could be intercepted. Following the incident, security personnel began intensive search operations in the surrounding areas of Samba and Kathua to ensure there were no security breaches or suspicious activities on the ground.
Authorities are maintaining a high level of alert along the border, where drone sightings have become a recurring concern due to their potential use in smuggling weapons, explosives, or narcotics, as well as for surveillance purposes.
No injuries or damage to property have been reported, and officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact nature and purpose of the suspected drone activity.
