New Delhi, (Economy India): The Delhi government has launched infrastructure projects worth Rs170 crore across nine industrial areas in the national capital, focusing on road improvements, stormwater drainage and long-pending civic infrastructure issues.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the projects at Rajasthani Udyog Nagar on Tuesday, reaffirming the government’s commitment to modernising industrial infrastructure and improving facilities for businesses.
The projects include the construction and improvement of approximately 15 kilometres of roads and the development of around 34 kilometres of stormwater drainage systems across the identified industrial areas.

₹170 Crore Investment in Industrial Infrastructure
The infrastructure programme is aimed at addressing civic challenges that affect industrial operations, including road conditions and inadequate drainage facilities.
Improved roads are expected to support smoother movement of goods and vehicles, while upgraded stormwater drainage systems are intended to strengthen rainwater management and help address waterlogging concerns.
Industrial areas depend on reliable civic infrastructure for the movement of raw materials, finished products, workers and commercial vehicles. The projects seek to improve these essential facilities across the nine industrial locations.
Roads and Drainage to Receive Major Upgrade
The programme covers two key components of industrial infrastructure development:
- Road infrastructure: Construction and improvement of around 15 km of roads.
- Stormwater drainage: Development of approximately 34 km of drainage systems.
The planned improvements are intended to address long-standing infrastructure requirements and create better operating conditions for businesses located in the capital’s industrial areas.

Better Civic Facilities for Industrial Areas
Infrastructure quality is an important factor in the functioning of industrial clusters. Poor roads can affect logistics and vehicle movement, while inadequate stormwater drainage can disrupt business operations during heavy rainfall.
The ₹170-crore programme seeks to address these issues through targeted improvements across nine industrial areas. The impact will depend on timely execution, construction quality and the effective maintenance of the upgraded infrastructure.
