New Delhi (Economy India): Zomato and Blinkit have helped more than 1,00,000 delivery partners across 905 cities file their Income Tax Returns (ITRs), enabling nearly ₹18 crore in income tax refunds this year.
The initiative aims to improve financial inclusion for gig workers by making tax filing easier and ensuring eligible delivery partners receive their rightful refunds. The companies stated that the ITR filing deadline for gig workers remains August 31, 2026, giving more partners time to complete the process.
According to the companies, the support program has reached delivery partners across India through simplified tax filing assistance and awareness campaigns. Many first-time filers have also benefited from the initiative.
As India’s gig economy continues to expand, such efforts are expected to improve financial literacy, encourage tax compliance, and help delivery partners access formal financial services, including loans and credit opportunities.
With over one lakh delivery partners already filing their returns, Zomato and Blinkit say they remain committed to supporting the financial well-being of their workforce while promoting greater participation in the country’s formal tax system.
