US-based Blackstone affiliate Epsilon Bidco offloads 8.45 crore shares through open market transaction

NEW DELHI (Economy India): US-based private equity major Blackstone Group has exited packaging company EPL Ltd by selling its entire 26.38 per cent stake for ₹2,032 crore through an open market transaction on Tuesday.

According to bulk deal data available on the NSE, Blackstone, through its affiliate Epsilon Bidco Pte Ltd, sold a total of 8,44,79,781 shares of Mumbai-based EPL Ltd.

EPL Ltd was formerly known as Essel Propack Ltd and operates in the packaging segment.

Blackstone Sells Entire Stake in EPL

Epsilon Bidco Pte Ltd, an affiliate of Blackstone, divested 26.38 per cent of EPL Ltd’s equity, marking Blackstone’s complete exit from the company.

The transaction involved approximately 8.45 crore shares and was executed through an open market transaction, according to NSE bulk deal information.

The value of the stake sold stood at around ₹2,032 crore.

Epsilon Bidco Was EPL’s Promoter

Epsilon Bidco Pte Ltd was the promoter of EPL Ltd. The latest transaction marks a significant change in the company’s shareholder structure following the complete divestment by the Blackstone affiliate.

Blackstone’s exit comes as part of its investment monetisation activity, with private equity investors typically seeking to realise value from portfolio investments through strategic sales, block or bulk transactions and market exits.
