A blend of tradition and modernity marks the State’s Silver Jubilee year celebration
Raipur, October 31 (Economy India): As Chhattisgarh celebrates its Silver Jubilee year, the state is set to witness a historic moment on November 1, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly building in Raipur. The occasion marks a significant milestone — 25 years after the state’s formation in 2000, the people of Chhattisgarh will finally receive their own grand, modern, and permanent Assembly complex.
Symbol of Culture, Faith, and Identity
The new Assembly building is more than just a magnificent architectural structure — it is a reflection of Chhattisgarh’s rich culture, traditions, and agricultural heritage.
Known as the ‘Rice Bowl of India’, the state’s agricultural roots find artistic expression in the building’s intricate design. The ceiling of the Assembly Hall features motifs of paddy stalks and leaves, symbolizing prosperity and the state’s agrarian identity.
Most of the wooden doors and furniture have been crafted by traditional artisans from Bastar, representing the state’s renowned craftsmanship. The blend of heritage art with modern architecture makes the new Assembly a living symbol of Chhattisgarh’s evolving identity.

Built for the Future: A Smart and Sustainable Assembly
The new Assembly complex has been designed to meet the present and future administrative needs of the state.
The fully equipped, smart legislative chamber has seating capacity for up to 200 members, allowing for future expansion.
Digital and paperless systems have been integrated into the infrastructure to promote efficient, eco-friendly legislative functioning, making it one of India’s most technologically advanced Assemblies.

Massive Scale: 51-Acre Campus, ₹324 Crore Project Cost
Sprawling over 51 acres, the new Assembly complex has been built at a cost of ₹324 crore.
It is divided into three major wings:
- Wing A: Secretariat and administrative offices
- Wing B: Legislative chamber, Central Hall, and offices for the Chief Minister and Speaker
- Wing C: Ministers’ offices and supporting departments
Each wing is interconnected by wide corridors, landscaped gardens, and public plazas that reflect the open and transparent nature of democracy.
Green Building with Renewable Energy Features
In line with India’s sustainability goals, the building incorporates green architecture and renewable energy systems.
It includes a solar power plant, two rainwater harvesting lakes, and infrastructure designed to conserve energy and minimize the carbon footprint.
The Assembly is a model of eco-conscious governance infrastructure, emphasizing both modernization and environmental responsibility.
Facilities and Infrastructure
The Assembly complex houses:
- A 500-seater state-of-the-art auditorium for public programs and official events
- A 100-seater Central Hall for key deliberations and conferences
- Modern media facilities, digital control rooms, and accessibility provisions
Its design represents the perfect confluence of tradition and innovation, setting a new benchmark for legislative architecture in India.
Symbol of People’s Aspirations
Beyond its architectural brilliance, the new Assembly stands as a symbol of the hopes and aspirations of Chhattisgarh’s three crore citizens.
It embodies their collective pride, democratic spirit, and vision for progress.
The structure mirrors the journey of a young state that has evolved rapidly in industrial, agricultural, and social development — now stepping into a new era with confidence and dignity.
