NEW DELHI (Economy India): Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences on the passing of Shri Ratan Tata, hailing him as a “visionary industrialist, kind soul, and extraordinary human being.” In a heartfelt message, Shri Modi praised Shri Tata’s relentless efforts to uplift society through his philanthropic initiatives and dedication to social causes.
“Shri Ratan Tata ji was a visionary industrialist, a kind soul, and an extraordinary human being. His contributions went far beyond the boardroom,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). “He was treasured by many for his humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to improving our society.”
A Legacy Beyond Business
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that Shri Ratan Tata’s contributions were not confined to the business world. His commitment to social welfare and philanthropy extended to various fields, including education, healthcare, sanitation, and animal welfare.
“One of the most unique aspects of Shri Ratan Tata ji was his passion to dream big and give back to others,” Shri Modi wrote. “He was at the forefront of advancing causes such as education, healthcare, sanitation, and animal welfare.”

Personal Bond with Prime Minister Modi
Recalling his personal interactions, Shri Modi shared memories of his numerous meetings with Shri Ratan Tata, dating back to his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. “My heart is filled with memories of my countless meetings with Shri Ratan Tata Ji. When I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, I used to meet him quite often. We used to exchange views on various issues,” said Shri Modi.
Their discussions were enriching, and the Prime Minister noted that even after moving to Delhi, their dialogue continued. “Our conversations continued even after I came to Delhi. I am deeply saddened by his demise. My condolences are with his family, friends, and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti,” he added.
