New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on August 2, 2025, during a special programme in Varanasi. This nationwide campaign aims to ensure direct benefit transfer to millions of farmers across the country.
High-Level Review Meeting Held
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, chaired a high-level meeting today to review preparations for the event. Senior officials from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and vice-chancellors of agricultural universities joined the meeting virtually.
Chouhan directed officials to connect farmers at national, state, district and village levels and make the programme a mass outreach campaign. He emphasized that KVKs play a pivotal role in ensuring timely delivery of the scheme’s benefits and called for extensive preparations.

Farmers Urged to Join in Large Numbers
The Union Minister appealed to farmers to participate in large numbers in the August 2 event. He said,
“Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, ₹6,000 is released annually in three installments. This programme is not just about financial support but also a mission to connect farmers with agricultural development schemes.”
He also directed officials to disseminate information through agriculture sakhis, drone didis, bank sakhis, pashu sakhis, beema sakhis and village sarpanches, ensuring the message reaches every corner of rural India.

Focus on Farmer Awareness and Outreach
Chouhan suggested that interactive sessions on kharif crop issues should be held during the event to strengthen farmer outreach. He said collective participation is crucial to make the campaign successful and maximize its reach.

₹20,500 Crore to be Transferred to 9.7 Crore Farmers
Since its launch in 2019, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has transferred ₹3.69 lakh crore through 19 installments to eligible farmers across India. The 20th installment will transfer around ₹20,500 crore to the accounts of 9.7 crore farmers.
The event is expected to be a nationwide celebration of farmer welfare and rural empowerment.
